Minutes
June 3, 2007

 

REMINDER:  The next Board meeting will be August 5, 2007.

Meeting was called to order at 2:05pm by President Terry Person.

Present: Dale Bartlett, John Kostoff, Greg Pell, Gordon Spink, Terry Person, Henry Nelson, Jack Nelson, Beryl Falcone, Bill Sachs, Gerry Spry, Gary Baron, Bob Rice, Lynn Brown, Joe Levine

Secretary's Report – Betty Elliott

Minutes from the March 25, 2007 meeting were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report – Greg Pell

Report approved as presented.

For the period March 25, 2007 – June 2, 2007:

Total Expenses = $368.32
Total Deposits = $1,479.00
Ending Balance (checking account) = $6,160.51

Other funds:
Certificate of Deposit (As of 06/01/2007) = $5,424.02

Total Cash on Hand = $11,584.53

Vice President’s Report – Bill Sachs

            Bill provided regarding Encore deadline and costs and a reminder that the Encore will not be re-mailed.

 President’s Report – Terry Person

Kevin Sedatole sends thanks to the Alumni Band Association for the donation to the commissioning project for John Whitwell.  He also requests $3,00 to pay for the dinner for the Wind Symphony at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago in December 2007.  The board agreed to provide $1,500 in lieu of the $750 usually provided for the reception. 

  Band Director’s Report

No band directors present.

Member Relations Report – Beryl Falcone

                        Beryl is submitting an article to the Encore requesting items for the archives.  Also, the President’s Wall in the conference room is missing the following photos:  Knipe, Monroe, Spry and McCaffrey.

Old Business

Fall Reunion September 8, 2007 – Betty will invite the “dignitaries”.

Golf Outing September 7, 2007 – Lynn Brown

The Ninth Annual Golf Outing will be held September 7 at Oak Lane Golf Course.  Please visit:  http://msuabgo.tripod.com for information.

Friday night Dinner September 7, 2007 – Gerry Spry, Lynn Kelsey, Greg Pell

            The dinner will b held at Hershey’s on Grand River in East Lansing with cocktails at 6pm and dinner at 7pm.  The main course options will be prime rib, Canadian salmon and chicken cordon bleu.  The cost will be $27.50 per person.

MSU Alumni Band Trip – Dale Bartlett 

The 2007 Canadian Rockies trip will begin June 18 with rehearsals June 16 and 17.

Printing Update – Bill Sachs

            Bill Sachs proposed universal membership cards that will also serve as name tags.  This idea is still in process.

Encore articles

            Although the deadline was June 1, it is still possible to send information to Kim.                              

New Business

                        Historian – Bob Rice

                                    Bob is providing Beryl items he has for the archives.

Homecoming Parade – Jack Nelson

            The parade will be Friday, October 12, 2007.  The date will be in the Encore.  In mid-September, information will be e-mailed and there will also be registration at Alumni Band Day.

MSU Alumni Magazine – Gordon Spink

            Gordon submitted an article regarding the Spring Concert.

The next board meeting is scheduled for August 5, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Buddies in Okemos.
